The district issued letters of intent Monday to the lowest bidders for a total cost more than $36 million - roughly $3 million more then expected - officials said. Work at Devine in Croydon could begin this winter. Students at Fitch and Washington will join Buchanan students in that new building. To help speed the process, the board agreed to pay the Schrader Group architectural firm up to $19,000 to perform a feasibility study designed to determine where the district’s administrative office, operations and transportation departments will be housed once the nine aging buildings are consolidated into three new schools.īuchanan and Emerson are expected to be ready for the 2015-16 school year. “We would want to re-purpose the buildings as quickly as possible,” school director Earl Bruck said recently, adding that the properties could be sold or demolished and the land used as open space. Maple Shade Elementary School - built in 1928 and currently the oldest functioning school in Bucks County - will remain untouched because it’s a historic site, officials have said.
